Functional Patterns is a system aimed towards human optimization primarily through eliminating bio-mechanical dysfunction. By addressing your posture and movement based on human evolutionary characteristics, your overall health and wellbeing can be drastically improved. Corrective and dynamic exercise centered around gait and throwing mechanics are utilized in order to align and synchronize your muscles, fascia, and bones in a way that will bring about tranquility and homeostatic balance. If structural integration of your body is not addressed in a way that is centered around your biological characteristics, you will never truly be able to experience what it means to move and behave like a human as nature intended. Naudi Aguilar, Functional Patterns Founder, and other practitioners at Functional Patterns have discovered through numerous case studies that the improvement of bio-mechanics for the functions of walking, running, and throwing is heavily connected to the way the body functions at the cellular level. When humans walk and run creating bio-rhythmic movement of the myofascial sling systems it stimulates the tissues in a way that allows for homeostasis to be easily maintained and better deal with stressors, as well as leading to increased energy levels. If bio-rhythmic movement is dysfunctional due to myofascial distortions created through faulty movement patterns, every step we take sends a stress signal to the body, and makes it extremely difficult to deal with any other incurred stressors found in our society today.
